It's good

-This is quite different from the stuff that i've listened to of yours in the past couple of weeks. It's a testament to your flexibility and the fact that you can throw in some nice electronic stuff with your usual instruments.

-It started quite slow and i'm not sure if you had the first eight seconds just empty on purpose for the menu purposes or if it was just an overlooked aspect. Anyway the initial electronic melody pulses in nicely and the cymbal usage is done very well. It has a nice deep reverberation that gels with the quick pace of the melody.

-Overall it's pretty short but it sounds like it would work great for the purposes that you stated as to why you made this piece. Hopefully everything works out with your friends game and it turns out how he wants it to.

Nice

-I've really come to love your use of atmosphere and feeling in song build-up and overall make-up of the song. It's great for background work and to convey feelings that might otherwise be overlooked in a sequence if it had no sound at all.

-Classical instruments are always the best for this and I love just sitting down every once in a while to listen to some classical music when i'm doing some work. It's really quite relaxing to listen to while doing work. I don't really have too much to say about this piece in particular but I liked how everything came together in the end. While it wasn't your best work IMO I did like how it ended.

Thank you very much ! I too enjoy listening to classical music while working, though I must admit it's usually soundtrack type classical music. I'm also thrilled that you enjoy my work so much. I really appreciate it a lot.

Funny

-Beginning lyrics for the win. "What kind of people am I supposed to be?" In the most redneck accent i've heard in a while. It was a great way to start everything off and get the listener into a good heavy metal mood.

-While I did think the beginning lyrics were awesome the music was kind of sub-par. While there were some great riffs every now and then there wasn't anything that really was able to get me into the song(other than the solo). It really didn't help that the music quality was low and it's very low.

Jeffaro responds:

Thanks for the comments. I appreciate it. I put allot of time into this. And I do agree the music its self is kind of sub par. The music is a tad too simple even for thrash standards. I tried my best to polish those riffs and connect them into one steady road. To stay in key.

In the future I will try to add more complexity to my riffs.

Thanks for your review.

Review

-I noticed you listed this as a techno song but it honestly felt more ambient-ish to me at the beginning. It made me think a little about how this was going to unfold with a beginning like that. Going on fourty-odd seconds before anything really got underway just gave it tons of build-up and anticipation to the actual unfolding of the song.

-It definitely took a U-turn once the additional melody was tacked on there. The pace increased dramatically while also bringing up the tone of the song. Which is why I think the build of the song was quite interesting. Almost the entire song was building blocks that you just kept stepping up and up. Eventually the song came to a plateau though.

-While sitting up on that plateau I would of liked to see the song change more than it did. You added an additional melody but it kept the same pace and tempo the whole time. Having some sort of break would of been great before you came to the downturn at the end.

Good Remix

-Aww shucks, I somehow managed to get to this one day after the contest voting ended. Like three hours past the 15th to be exact which dissapoints me since I would of voted.

-It's pretty solid for a remix(had to go to the high quality since this one is of dreadful quality). I don't mind having to go off site since there is a really low size limit on newgrounds. There is a definite difference since some of it sounds fuzzy on here but is in all actuality almost perfect quality.

-Overall I really enjoyed listening to this song. It's very upbeat and uses synths quite effectively with the vocals to push the song forward.

Good Job

-You're right. This does provoke emotion. I don't think it would with just the strings or the melody but having them mixed brings out some emotion. While it isn't a whole lot it does move me a little listening to it.

-At the beginning the suttle volume buildup was nice and needed. Listening to this at a higher volume sounds much better and adds to the atmospheric feeling it brings. I didn't mind that there weren't too many builds since it is structured nicely with many breaks in the string progression and melody. Just having those really had a nice calming effect.

Emotional

-Honestly this is a very touching and dramatic song to me. It's amazing sometimes how much feeling and emotion can be brought up to the surface by listening to a song using just the right chords and instrument combinations.

-It's very dark and deep in the way it is portrayed which is very fitting for the song title and the story you have given it. It would of been nice to see a second more resounding climax at the end though.

Thank you so much for the review.

Frankly, I have to say that I got stuck in the end of the song that I couldn't think of something else, so I just add a deep, dark and long bass sound to make it mysterious.

-I really liked how dynamic the song was throughout. It was anything from boring even from the start. It came in really fast and you threw in a little wobble for some good measure. It is quite an original beginning and takes some style from the usual dubstep beginnings but it mixes in an actual melody instead of just a beat.

-What I find quite amusing is how good of a program fruity loops is even though it's not all that expensive(if you get older versions) which is probably why it's so widely used by music makers here on newgrounds. The high pitched melody is quite fruity in itself too. I loved how light it was and how it was good at bringing a delightful atmospheric tone to what was already built up in the beginning. But like most songs it had it's usual ebb and flow to things. Even though I loved how it was progressing in the beginning it started to feel repetitive and positively droning to me(The part i'm talking about is 1:24-about the 2 minute mark). In my opinion this part of the song could of been left out since it slows things down and doesn't quite have that nice fruity feel to the tempo and melody of the song that you built up earlier.

-The song didn't seem to have proper planning and a preset structure since it seemed to go in random directions and never really had a set structure that it was following. Yes, it would go for about thirty seconds here and there on the same song build but they were meshed together with solid transitions. I might of said otherwise but most of the time I was just stimied as to where this was going. I like being spontaneous and seeing stuff come out free flowing but planning is always something that I would like to see a little of in the end. This brings me to the ending of the song. It did take a step back on pace and revisit an earlier sounding melody it took me aback as to how fast it ended. There wasn't any real progressive dropoff in things. It just dropped off the face of the earth and I would of liked to have seen some sort of filtering out of layers instead of the drastic ending.

-The percussion was mixed in like some good pancake batter that's mixed with care so the final result is everything that you wanted in a good breakfast(sans sides). While as far as my ear could tell there wasn't any unique or interesting percussion instruments you did do a swell job of adding some spice here and there into the melody with them. At times, like I mentioned, you tend to overdue the drums and it brings the song down a little since the melody is the real focal point of the song and bringing out too much percussion just tends to bring the song down as a whole since it doesn't need it.

-I can see where you are coming from saying that the audio mods might have thought you were using some material from other areas since at times the song does get a little repetitive and becomes rather familiar. In the whole aspect of things though the song has very few of those things and it probably took the mods a little time to sort things out and get to your submission. Nothing too big but it seems to worry most people when they are first submitting their work to the audio portal.

Hiya, Review Request Club, and thankies!

Such a long and professional review slightly startles me, and that just shows that I still have a long way to go regarding understanding music making properly and making some more proper pieces. I am glad that you enjoyed it and did not find it boring!

I believe my weakest point is not finding other instruments, creating new or tweaking them, having a nice ear candy effect and so. Heh, I do not even know what a so-called "VST" is, but I shall do research and try learning some more, as I really do want to make high-quality digital music one day which becomes popular and which many listeners will enjoy and listen to more than once.

I also plan, at a later point, to do a nenewed version of this song and make it sound more professional, the same melodies but with more eye candy perhaps. A sort of remix or so. ;)

Thank you kindly for the awesome review and the effort behind it, I really appreciate it. Good luck further with the reviewing, keep up the awesome work!

Great Job

Wow... this song totally blew me away. Its beat its sort of a combination, however, because of it, it becomes a master of its own. Its astonishing really that someone pulled of a professional sounding song such as this. You can probably make a living for clubs and such for works like this. Its incredible work. Great Job

I'm a pretty laid back person. Like some things about the new design but still like a lot of things from the old one :/
