Gangsta

-This is actually pretty good for something thrown together really fast for Clock Day. It's a pretty long animation even if it has some parts that are used over and over to match the repeated lyrics from the rap song.

-Even though you put this together really fast it would of been nice if you would of cropped the pictures better and put in a better voice icon when specific clocks were speaking. I think it would be great to do another rap for this years Clock Day.

PatriotClock responds:

Actually this took a lot longer than most of my movies since the song is so long, and it had to be edited completely before I could even start animating. Thanks for the review

Future

-Some pretty generic storytelling went on in this flash that I didn't particularly find that amusing for the simple fact that it has been overdone. People fake being from the future and unsuspecting person believes them and the epic hoax lives on. It became more enjoyable as it progressed and patriotclock did go to the future.

-The ending sadly could of been worked on a little better since the ending looks rushed some. You animated the last scene quickly going up the building and when he finally couldn't take the shock of the future and ended himself you didn't do any over the top effects that we so love and enjoy.

PatriotClock responds:

Yes I was running out of time with the last scene, as this was submitted for a Phlash Phandango contest. I had to leave the next day so I hastily put together the ending and shady bounced. Thanks for the review

Epic Win

-It's not very often that there is someone who can make a flash movie about 9/11 and it bring a chuckle to me without me actually thinking about the bad side effects of what happened.

-Definitely a great PSA that hearkened back to the old days of animation with the greyscale and flickering movie tape. Some pretty swell animating and speakonia voices incorporated and I definitely learned an important lesson today that I will make sure that I don't forget.

Artsy

-It's refreshing to say the least. Most animators have been drawn away from the classic paper and pencil art style used to animate. As soon as they were given the new fancy tools they slowly but surely started to completely abandon this way of doing things. It seems almost befitting that your first work would be created in this classic style as sort of a contrast to the lack of effort that most new animators give. Like you said, you have had an account for almost a decade and you've most likely seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. It probably helps that it was for school too.

-As said i'm quite impressed with how your first animation project submitted here is so good (score over 4 and daily 3rd). While the graphics aren't the best, since you had to convert the file and compress it for the size limit, you didn't need for them to be to tell the artsy side of the story. It's still possible to see all of the fine details that were incorporated and the little nuiances that can be discerned with some focus. Anything from flashy since you kept it pretty simple but it would of been completely unnecessary and would have created so much more work without earning a whole lot on results.

-You were also able to complete the package by incorporating sound into the mix that really complimented and went with the animation well. They definitely accomplished adding to the emotional side of the work and adding tension at pivital moments. It's definitely a work of art but some minor details brought it down( blurry, short, loops). I know you can't help the blurriness and the looping since you didn't use a flash program but I feel like if you could lengthen your work and add even more storyline it would improve it greatly.

Thanks alot man, this means alot to me.
I'll be sure to make my next one longer and look for a way to keep the quality crisp, aswell as adding a preloader and the likes.
cheers & thanks again!

Nice concept

It looked like a classic game made with vector graphics. An interesting way to build the drawing designs. I enjoyed watching the crazy antics that were going on but it felt kind of random for a colonization effort. Didn't really pull together for me until the green defense captured a moon and started mining it for resources.

The animation looks fine during battle scenes since action is going on to distract you but when the spaceships are just flying you can clearly tell that the animation is choppy. Try improving the fps just a little to make it look smoother. This series definitely has room to grow though. Bigger battle scenes and more desperate attempts to take over the colonized planet.

neverzonegaming responds:

great thanks for the ideas

Lol

-This is one of the oddest animations i've seen in a while and what makes it absolute gold is that J-Kellz actually did this at some point in real life since you said something about that in the author comments. Just thinking about him actually doing that made it so much funnier than if you made this up.

-It's not the best animating since it seems spur of the moment and it's not touched up in some areas where the lip synching is off. I'm not saying it's bad since it's above average but some more time could of been taken to make everything look better. I was confused by the guy in the background. He was probably related to this story somehow but I just see it as complete randomness to have him jumping up and down across the screen.

YoinK responds:

oh the audio was taken from a youtube video. And that's our friend snakebite who does that crazy jumping dance move when he's drunk. They were both drunk during this incident which makes it funnier.

Nice and Simple

-While not the most interesting music to use as the base for this animation it had that odd sense of just pulling you into it with the beginning notes. The song stays rather consistent and doesn't leave you much to work with in the long run since it is less than a minute long.

-The animating fit nicely with the song which is the best thing going for this animation considering it's so short. There were tons of things going on at the start but you just seemed to run out of ideas towards the end when everything was enveloped by the alien head thing that came out of the screen. Wobble is okay for me but it was a little overdone and the drawings could of come out cleaner.

"had that odd sense of just pulling you into it with the beginning notes."
Interesting, Wonder how I could replicate that effect again.

"seemed to run out of ideas at the end"
The "alien head" consumed everything, giving me little to work with.

"Wobble is okay for me but it was a little overdone and the drawings could come out cleaner."
From what people are saying it sounds like if one uses the "wobble effect" they should not use it as much as I did.

Thanks for the input, it was helpful.

Happy 1 year Anniversary for this flash

-My favorite part, which was probably everyone else's, were the jokes! The flash, right from the intro, had me laughing so hard . Random's good, as long as its not overused, which i felt like it wasn't. The phedophila jokes got me laughing since I seem to have quite a sick mind and that sort of thing gets me more amused than anything else.

-Being a pokemon parody, it should be fitting that sprites were used. Some scenes did tend to be a little slow. I'll agree with some viewers that Peter walked a bit slow, but that wasn't too big of an issue compared to everything as a whole. You did a great job with your characters. I can tell that the script was well made and you took your time with it.

-I'm not going to say that this is a perfect parody, because nothing's really perfect. It did, at times, seem to drag on, but i did enjoy every minute of it. It brought back so many memories of trying to catch all the pokemon and grinding like no tomorrow so I could beat the elite four. It's quite a shame that there's not going to be a sequel though. It does give you more time to create other works of genius though.

OrangePylon responds:

Thanks so much! I was secretly hoping to myself that for a birthday present someone would leave a good review for once, but I never thought anyone else would seriously remember its birthday. XD

I do have to point out, though, that if it's not perfect, a 10/10 doesn't make sense. We'll call it a 9 + 1 for its anniversary. :P

Thanks again, I seriously appreciate it.

EDIT: OHHHH, I'm in the Flash Portal again under past Daily Features. XD I was wondering how someone managed to remember the day a flash cartoon was released.

Keep going with this

-When I first saw the file size it made me frown since I knew it would take a bit to load and I thought it would be a short animation that wasn't compressed properly. But after watching I had a completely different opinion on this area. I'm not exactly sure how long this animation was but it was pretty long and with the amount of audio used there had to of been some compression to begin with to get it to the size that it is currently at.

-The loading screen isn't the worst it could be(loader with plain background) but it isn't all that great either. It's just a still with the two main characters. This could of had some sort of information on the characters or some nice links to some of your other works(hint for sequel). Just have something to make the load time go by just a little faster. I most assuredly don't expect any future works in this series to be of any lower quality so there will be time for loading on those too.

-The main story looks pretty well thought out since there were some solid character designs and you at least took the time to tell us some of the backstory before the title screen came up. It's just a little backdrop and there are a few things that are left out(why they don't have parents) but it's the thought and effort that count(better than going in blind). As I was watching I noticed some familiar things in the scenery which you are most likely drawing from dragonball or something similar. I'm mainly saying this because of the fact that you had a tournament with a rather similar layout with people talking on the sideline. The fighting mechanics were also extremely overexaggerated with people flying all over the place which should mean that they have extraordinary strength and that should prove useful in fighting that beast.

-The drawing is solid and again the notice to fine details is great. There was obvious time taken into account for drawing each respective character and the town itself. I really liked how you made the town float in the middle of the sky and have a plot element involving water which shouldn't even be there to begin with unless there is some divine power holding it there. Sometimes when the characters would talk their whole body would move even though it really didn't need to which is some more of the overexaggeration that is involved in this animation.

-There is audio abound here with a ton of great works that you pulled from the newgrounds audio portal. I much prefer when people use work from there since there is always something for everything there and a lot of it is really high quality. You incorporated them nicely into your animation here and they really helped it in some places. Voice acting isn't the best but it does do wonders to have very distinct voices for each character. This makes me think that you had several different people voice acting or just one talented person.

-Overall it's a great start to a series that has some potential. This really doesn't get the praise that it deserves. While it might not be the best ever or anything amazing it is really good and a lot better than most people can ever get to in animating. Here's to hoping that you continue to improve and get the next installment in the series out soon so we don't have to wait too long.

Thanks! Very very helpful review! I'm glad you enjoyed and yes, episode 2 will improve on all the aspects lacking in this episode. Or should I say, I will take everything I learned from this episode and carry on with what I've learned and put it to use. Episode 2 will likely be about half as long as this episode and shouldn't take too very long to have ready for launch. Hope to see you back!

Vaporeon

The new introduction is one of my favorite introductions that you guys have made. It's artfully done and extremely suspenseful. It creates some great irony when you actually get to the work that you have masterfully crafted. Vaporeon is definitely the queen of all the evolutional pokemon of eevee. I was a little saddened by the use of a sprite version of vaporeon but the way that you presented this work as a whole was well deserving of a 10.

SAK responds:

thx mn

I'm a pretty laid back person. Like some things about the new design but still like a lot of things from the old one :/
